OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Office of Police and Security provides effective public safety services to an institution of higher learning, associated medical facilities, and research labs. The department ensures a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. Department staff preserve peace, enforce the law, provide resources, and uphold the United States Constitution and the Constitution of Illinois.
The Office of Police and Security provides people-first community-focused service. The agency maintains a trained staff to objectively respond to the public safety needs of the community. Personnel are responsive and accessible problem solvers. Staff ensure respectful, thoughtful solutions are implemented. Personnel utilize transparent communications and collaborative efforts to operate in a courteous and unbiased manner.

The agency provides protective services with support from the university and constituents.
